Marietta FUMC sent a mission team to Guatemala from June 4 – 10, 2016. On the team were Abby Davis, Karen Hamilton, Laura Johnson, Larry Morrissey, Rachel Morrissey, Sarah Morrissey, Lyndsay Price, Madalyn Price, Robert Price, Martha Lee Sanders, Stephanie Schweitzer, and Mike Stamper. We were working at LaSenda which is a children’s home and school run by Pam and Steve English. During the day we did various projects around the home /school and in the evening we furthered our relationship with the children that live there. Our projects this year were building a deck, painting, landscaping, testing the school children on their Bible memory verses, teacher development, teaching classes, cleaning, cooking and morning school devotions. A bonus this year was that the school’s soccer team was in the national soccer tournament for ages 14 – 16. They played 3 games during our visit and many of us were able to go and cheer them on. They ended up being the State runner ups. We were very proud of our guys. It was an awesome trip and as always we came away blessed by our special relationships we have formed with the Englishes and the children of LaSenda.
