Advent at First United Methodist Church of Marietta

 Advent is the beginning of the church year
and is the season  when we anticipate the birth
of Jesus the Christ and look forward  to the return of Christ in his Second Advent.

Over the coming weeks, First United Methodist Church of Marietta has several special worship services and a variety of activities planned. 

Children’s Ministry Advent Workshop
Wednesday, December 6 • 5:15-6:30 p.m. • Family Life Hall
Join us for an evening of fun crafting for children, food, and the Chorister Choir’s production of Room for Christmas!

Christmas Variety & Sing-Along Show
Free • Saturday, December 9 • 7 p.m. •  Family Life Hall

 Service of Lessons and Carols
Sunday, December 10 at both worship services

Homebound Worship and Dinner
Sunday, December 10 • 5 p.m. • Reception Hall
This Christmas worship service is specifically for those who cannot come to church on a regular basis. RSVP to Rev. Lori Ethridge at ext. 835.

Longest Night Worship
Thursday, December 21 • 7 p.m. • Sanctuary
Through word and song, we remember that Christ shines light into the darkness of our lives.  This beautiful service offers a quiet respite amidst the holiday rush.

Christmas Eve Worship Services
Sunday, December 24
Sunday Morning Worship • 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.
Children’s Nativity • 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Candlelight Communion • 4 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.

All children from the Nursery to fifth grade are invited to join the Children’s Nativity at the 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Christmas Eve worship services. Each age group participates as Nativity characters:
Angels (nursery and pre-school)
Shepherds (kindergarten through second grade)
Magi (third through fifth grades)
Costumes will be available in the Reception Hall prior to both services although you are welcome to provide your own.

Christmas Offering
Support our church’s local and global mission work. You may make your donation when the offering is received during worship services on Sundays, December 10 and 17, and Christmas Eve.
