Confirmation Mentors Thank you for committing to mentor to one of our confirmation youth as they begin this important journey in their Christian lives. Over the next 15 weeks you will be asked to make small gestures of encouragement, reminding your confirmation student that they are not alone in their journey. This is a wonderful time for you to share your stories of faith and scriptures that have been special to you in your own journey. They will need to know that someone is praying for them every step of the way.
Below is timeline that will help you connect and stay in touch with your confirmation student. We ask that you follow this as closely as possible. Please take time each day to pray for your student and when you see them at church, ask them about their confirmation journey and how they are doing. We also have several field trips planned during confirmation and you are encouraged to join us. There are also several service projects that the class can participate in. January 8 Confirmation Covenant Service
January 15 Classes begin during the Sunday School hour.
January 20-22 Confirmation Retreat at Ducktown, TN/Whitewater Express.
January 29 Mentor meet and greet at from 9:15 to 10:00 a.m. in the Lower Room. Stop in for a few minutes to introduce yourself to your confirmation student.
Week of February 6 A note/card/bookmark/etc. reminding them that someone is praying for them during their journey. Please mail this directly to them.
February 12 - Mentors attend Confirmation Class, 10:10 a.m. in Lower Room
February 17 Friday evening field trip to Temple Kol Emeth to attend a Shabbat Service. Leave the church at 6:00 p.m. for dinner and then attend 8:00 p.m. Shabbat service. Return by 9:30 p.m.
February 25 Saturday evening field trip to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Marietta to attend 5:30 p.m. Mass. Meet at the church at 5:00 p.m. for service with dinner to follow. Week of March 5 A note/card/bookmark/etc. reminding them that someone is praying for them during their journey. Please mail this directly to them.
March 11 - Mentors attend Confirmation Class, 10:10 a.m. in Lower Room
March 17 Saturday afternoon field trip to the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA. Leave church at 2:00 p.m. for Monastery visit, dinner on the way back. Return to church by 7:00 p.m.
April 8 - Mentors attend Confirmation Class, 10:10 a.m. in Lower Room
Week of April 9 A note of encouragement to let them know that they are almost done and how proud you are of them. Please mail this directly to them.
April 21 Confirmation Dinner in the Reception Hall at 6:00 p.m. Confirmation students, parents and mentors are asked to attend this special dinner to celebrate the Confirmation Class of 2012. It is a kind gesture to have a small gift for your confirmation student; something that might remind them of their journey.
April 22 This is confirmation Sunday. We will let you know in which service your student will be confirmed and we ask that you stand at the altar with your student as they are confirmed. |
