Great Day of Service
The youth participate in the Great Day of Service projects through the church. Whether it be a project Faith in Action at the MFUMC campus or working in a local community project, our youth are ready to help.
Faith In Action
Faith in Action events are varied, but they all encourage our youth to connect with their community and each other. We prepare and serve lunch at the MUST Loaves and Fishes kitchen, help set-up and break down at the Lil’ Lambs consignment sale, make Christmas ornaments, help decorate at the Enable Homes, do yard work and clean up for older adults in our church, share a meal and Christmas carols with the Men’s and Women’s Extension, host a food drive for the Center for Family Resources for Thanksgiving, and much more. Putting our “faith in action” helps youth realize how important sharing time and resources is to those they help.
Mission Fridays (Summer)
On tw0 different Friday afternoons during the summer students have the opportunity to serve our local community. They’ve built community gardens, served lunch at MUST, invested time with Safehouse Ministries in Atlanta, and much more. These Fridays have become one of the favorite summer activities.
Our mid high students have started an annual summer mission trip. The Mid-High Mission Trip allows students who have just completed the 6th grade through 8th grade a chance to experience mission work for the first time. In the past, students have worked in the St. Simons/Brunswick area and Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, with different mission organizations. On past trips, they have done landscaping at a school, and cleaned and prepared a building for a homeless shelter. They also enjoy some time at the beach, mountains or theme parks!
John Wesley said, “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
The students at MFUMC will be going to a different city this year to serve in the community for an intensive 3-day trip! We go to a surrounding city and serve the community to the best of our ability.
Spring Break Mission Trip
Senior High Students have the opportunity to serve on an international mission trip for one week in April over their Spring Break to minister, love and serve different people around us.
