Our church has set aside the month of May to celebrate our Endowment Foundation and to call on every member for prayerful consideration and fervent prayer for this important ministry.
Our church is presented today with one of the most bold and exciting ministries in our 175 year history. We have created a separate 501(C)3 tax exempt Endowment Foundation that will allow our members to give financial and asset gifts that will continue supporting our numerous ministries far beyond our own lifetimes. The Endowment Foundation allows us to designate gifts in our estate planning, or to make Memorial and Honorary gifts at any time. The church has taken great care to insure that these gifts will be invested and administered in ways that are in keeping with our commitments to be both a Great Commission church and a Great Commandment church.
OUR FOUNDATION VISION
To be a perpetual source of funds to meet the church’s extraordinary mission and ministry needs as it carries out the Great Commission for generations to come!
OUR FOUNDATION MISSION
To create an Endowment of at least $10,000,000 in assets by 2022 through direct and planned gifts. Make annual gifts from the Endowment to the mission and ministry needs of the church.
The enclosed brochure entitled “Marietta First United Methodist Endowment Foundation” has more information including answers to probable questions. The Foundation will have its own web site with important information including the names of church members who have served and are serving on the foundation board. The Foundation Board members will be meeting with church leaders and church members to answer questions.
CALL TO ACTION
We encourage you to take time to read the brochure. Keep it close at hand and pray about it. Fill out the insert card when you are ready for help in
your decision making. What better statement about your Christian faith than to ensure that a Final Tithe from your estate goes to the ongoing ministries
of your church. We emphasize that the Endowment Foundation is not established for the day to day budget and workings of the church. These weekly funds should always come from your annual stewardship pledge. The endowment fund is created for special mission and ministry opportunities as an active and growing church will surely require over time.
In this great cause,
Chairperson, Foundation Board
Sam R. Matthews
