Just before school starts each year, First United Methodist Church of Marietta partners with MUST Ministries and other churches to collect and distribute school supplies for local children. Each child also receives a backpack for transporting books and supplies. Through Marietta City Schools and our partners in community development, we help at-risk children and their families find hope for a better education with back-to-school supplies. This effort is designed to bring our community together by providing basic school supplies. You can become a part of this valuable program by donating supplies, backpacks and/or funds or by volunteering.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED…Following current health guidelines and the church Transition Team guidelines, starting July 16, help is needed to prep school supplies for packing backpacks. CLICK HERE to sign up for a time slot. In an effort to manage the size of our volunteer group, it is limited to only 12 volunteers. Please do not come if you are not able to secure a time slot.
Due to COVID-19 we will be unable to hold a “Backpack Packing Party” like in years past. Where over 80 volunteers during a few weeks time in July came into the church to sort supplies, audit bags donated and pack over 700 bags.
You may also support the cause with a financial donation by sending a check (please indicate “backpacks”) in the mail or by donating online.
Label your donated bag Elementary (with a green ribbon) or Middle/High School (with a red ribbon)
Please bring your packed backpacks to the church during the week of July 20-24.
Monday – Thursday 9 am – 4:30 pm and Friday 9 am – 12:30 pm.
Drive up under the breezeway by the FLH, between buildings A and B, dropping the bags in the designated location.
