Patriotic Sunday
Our annual Patriotic Sunday service is on Sunday, July 2 at 10:30 a.m. (ONE service) in the Sanctuary and will feature guest speakers Director of Military and Veteran Services at Kennesaw State University Stacey Dixon and Adjutant General of Georgia Department of Defense, Major General Thomas M. Carden, Jr.

Inaugural Choral Scholars Fundraising Concert
Join us for an evening of spectacular music from Strauss, Verdi, Mozart, Sondheim, Gounod, and many more performed by the First United Methodist Church of Marietta "Choral Scholars.".The Choral Scholars (Marissa Alban, Dylan Cronan, Jessica Crowell, Coleman Hand, and Lydia McCutcheon) will present a variety of music from Opera, to Musical Theatre hits, to choral music, and hymns.
Online pricing is $25 per person—early bird pricing of $20 available through March 12. Children 12 and under are free but do require a ticket. Cash sales will be available after Worship in the Gathering Area on March 9, 16, and 23. Nursery Staff will provide childcare for children ages 8 weeks to 5 years old. All proceeds go towards the Music Ministry of First United Methodist Church of Marietta.

Christmas Festival Choir
Choir Opportunity! Do you like to sing but can't commit to singing for rehearsals and worship every week? Do you enjoy Christmas music? YOU are all welcome to join the Festival Choir! The Festival Choir will begin rehearsals on Wednesday, November 6. The Festival Choir will join the Chancel Choir for Christmas Eve and Sunday December 29.

A Celtic Christmas with Emmet Cahill
On Monday, December 9th, 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, World acclaimed Irish Tenor, Emmet Cahill will perform. Cahill hails from Mullingar, Ireland, and is the lead singer with PBS phenomenon Celtic Thunder. He will be accompanied by Pianist Seamus Brett with featured performances by the First United Methodist Church of Marietta’s Chancel Choir and the new Glatter-Götz Pipe Organ. This Christmas concert will include stunning renditions of your favorite Christmas carols and sing-a-longs for the entire audience.

Youth Choir and Orchestra Parent Meeting
Parents and students in 6-12th grade are encouraged to attend this session in Room 263, where choir student and adult leadership will present comprehensive information regarding service projects; music training and enactment; and the purpose and vision for the group. This year's two expeditions will be discussed in full, and the 2026 European tour will be included in the talk. An open rehearsal concludes the gathering.

Gala Organ Concert with Dr. Nicole Marane
Join us as we cap off a thrilling Year of the Organ with Dr. Nicole Marane's star-studded Gala Organ Concert on Saturday, September 7th at 7:00 p.m. The glamour and glitz of our Glatter-Götz will shine forth in all its celestial glory as Dr. Marane, John Lawless, and other special guest stars take us on a tour of the night sky. Dr. Marane will play music from Interstellar (coinciding with Paramount Pictures re-release of the movie for its 10th anniversary), Star Wars, as well as dazzling works by Koehne, Riemann, and Copland. Every audience member will have the chance to win out-of-this-world prizes by playing “name that (star) tune” with medleys of songs ranging from musical theater to patriotic pieces to favorite hymns.

Music in Ministry Sunday
Join us in both worship services on Sunday, August 25 for Music in Ministry Sunday. The Adult Choir, Youth Choir, Children's Choirs (11:15 a.m. worship only), Handbell Choir, Instrumentalists, and their leaders, will provide wonderful music.

Summer Organ Concert with Ronald Ebrecht
Join us at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary on Sunday, June 9 for a festive concert with organist Ronald Ebrecht! Mr. Ebrecht will play works spanning the canon including pieces by four African-American composers: Thomas "Fats" Waller; Florence Price; W.C. Handy; and Edmund Jenkins . In addition to being University Organist Emeritus at Wesleyan (CT) and a Yale Fellow, Mr. Ebrecht is the designer of our incomparable new sanctuary instrument. He has concertized on five continents and is considered the world's foremost authority on the music of Maurice Duruflé and the organs built by Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. This event is free, open to all, and not to be missed!
Nursery Staff will provide childcare for ages 8 weeks - 5 years old on June 9 for the Summer Organ Concert Series. Please register your child(ren) HERE by Friday, June 7.
Drop-off and pick-up will run from the 1st Floor Nursery Lobby.
The Nursery will open for drop-off beginning at 3:40pm.
Pick-up will be directly following the end of the concert.
We do ask that all children attending Nursery complete registration so we can gather appropriate information regarding allergies, emergency contacts, and plan for the appropriate number of Nursery Staff.

June Summer Family Choir
Sing at either the 9:00 a.m. (Park on Polk), or 11:15 a.m. (in the Sanctuary) during the month of June!
Do you enjoy singing, but can't commit to weekly rehearsals? Do you simply want a chance to experience worship from a different side? Show up at 8:15 a.m. for Park, 10:40 a.m. (Choir room) for Sanctuary, and you will be handed music. No robes required, simply wear your Sunday best!

Atlanta Concert Band
The Atlanta Concert Band returns to the Park on Polk for the third straight year to present a Spring Pops Concert on Sunday, May 5th at 6:00 PM. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy music in this beautiful pavilion. The Band will perform the music of John Philip Sousa, John Williams, George Gershwin, and more. Featured guests will include mezzo-soprano, and Atlanta Concert Band Board Member, Dian Knight.

Organ Dedication Concert
Dr. Alcee Chriss, a multiple laureate of many of the world's most prestigious competitions, is one of the great organists of our time. On Saturday April 27 at 7:00 p.m., he will dedicate the church's new pipe organ with a festive concert demonstrating the instrument's near-infinite sonic dimensions. This event is free and open to the public, and not to be missed.
A featured star in the PBS documentary Pipe Dreams (2019), Alcee Chriss III is an organist and keyboardist from Fort Worth, TX. Winner of the 2017 Canadian International Organ Competition and Firmin Swinnen Silver Medalist at the 2016 Longwood Gardens International Organ Competition, he is widely regarded as one of the leading young organists of our time. He will perform works by Bach, Whitlock, Franck, Joplin, and an Improvisation. You are invited to a dessert reception after the program in the Reception Hall.

GA Boy Choir in Worship
Georgia Boy Choir will join our Chancel Choir to provide music for both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Worship Services.
Our Director of Music, Dr. Nicole Marane, has been collaborating and working with David White and the Georgia Boy Choir since 2010. We are excited to welcome them to worship on Sunday March 3rd to join the Chancel Choir in providing music for our 9am and 11.15am Worship services.
The purpose of the Georgia Boy Choir is to achieve the highest possible standard of musical excellence, while instilling in its members a life-long appreciation of music; an abiding love of beauty; a keen sense of respect for themselves and others; and the self-discipline necessary to become effective leaders in their families, their communities and the world.

Organ Consecration
Celebrate The Year of the Organ at our Organ Consecration Service.
We will rejoice over the installation of our beautiful Glatter-Götz, Op. 39 as organists Dr. Nicole Marane and Brian Parks and the First United Methodist Church of Marietta Chancel Choir lead us in a dedicatory worship service. We will situate the organ as belonging uniquely to this house of worship, whose sacred role is to lift up musical offerings with praise and thanksgiving to God.

Atlanta Concert Band
Join us for a thrilling outdoor concert featuring the Atlanta Concert Band on May 7 at 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. as we kick off our Summer Concert Series in the Park on Polk! Director Paul Scanling leads his forces of 70 brass, woodwinds, and percussionists in music spanning centuries and genres. Brian Parks, Organist and Associate Director of Music at Marietta First United Methodist Church, will join the group as Guest Soloist in George Gershwin's iconic "Rhapsody in Blue," for which a grand piano will be played outside!

Boat Day for All...atoona!
Fish, slide, chill, eat, swim! A day in the sun at Lake Allatoona and a 32-ft mega cruiser, with slide and galley. Fun guaranteed or Mr. Parks will drink a gallon of lake water*. Angling lessons given by Choir Captain Lucas Price. We leave the church at 7:45 a.m. and return at 6:00 p.m. Lunch included in cost.
*Lake water may be drunk slowly in micro-increments over 1,000 year period.

Summer Concert Series
Cobb Summer Singers returns to full programming for 2022 with a gala performance of Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor. The Cobb Summer Singers, ranging from 100-125 members, will be joined by distinguished soloists and professional chamber orchestra.

Organ Pipe Signing
Organ Pipe Signing - August 21: Join us on the 3rd Floor during the Sunday School hour (10:10 a.m.) and following the 11:15 a.m. service for a tour of the organ chambers and a chance to sign an actual pipe.
