The mission of our Senior Adult Ministry (S.A.M.) is to remind our senior members that there is no point in time when we stop growing in our relationship with the Lord. Our activities give “more mature” members the opportunity for Christian fellowship along with a fulfilling life as the Lord continues to use them as they serve God. We meet as well for day trips and extended trips throughout the year.
Catered Luncheons
Lunch and an informational program, targeted especially for seniors, is on the 3rd Wednesday at noon in September, November, January, March and May.
Day Trips
We enjoy day trips to local and regional sights such as Gibbs Gardens, the High Museum, the Fox Theatre and the Atlanta Braves’ SunTrust Park.
Senior Retreat
Each fall the seniors have a retreat at WinShape on the campus of Berry College in Rome, Georgia. The trip includes lodging for two nights and an enriching and informative program speaker.
E.L.M.
Marietta FUMC hosts Cobb County’s E.L.M. (Enrichment of Life Movement) that meets in three 8-week sessions on Tuesdays throughout the year (fall, winter and spring). From exercise to craft making, a wide variety of classes is offered. For more information, visit the E.L.M. Web site at www.elmcobb.org.
The Greeting Card-Crafting Ministry meets quarterly to encourage one another in fellowship while hand-making all-occasion greeting cards for our homebound members and for our overseas
missionaries. No previous experience is required, and all of the necessary supplies are provided.
