First United Methodist Church of Marietta: An Oral History
This project, under the guidance of our Archives Committee, features video interviews with long-time members. You will enjoy the interesting stories they tell while you will, no doubt, learn new things about our church, its heritage and history and the congregation.
Life long member and 3rd generation at FUMC of Marietta Ms. BeBe Meaders recalls fond memories of the pre-alter guild days.
Born in 1929, Don Smith remembers growing up 2 blocks from the church and 2 blocks from the square during the depression. Recorded October 25, 2017.
Member since 1938, there wasn’t anything going on in the church that Ms. Mable Johnson wasn’t a part of. Recorded on October 3, 2018.
After moving to Marietta from Augusta, Ga in January 1971, Bernie and Snooky Brown joined FUMC of Marietta, and like they say, the rest is history. Recorded on September 27, 2017.
Our Archives sat down first with Guy “Buck” Northcutt Jr. on August 16, 2017. Not only is he a lifelong member, his Anderson ancestors were here from almost the beginning. Recorded on August 16, 2017.
