Missions

As the body of Christ we are invited to share in the deep human need within each of us to participate together in God’s Mission for the world. God calls us through the Great Commission to go out and make Disciples. But there is more, He reminds us with the Great Commandment, “To love one another.” Whether in a neighborhood down the block or 6,000 miles away, we seek to grow healthy communities through identifying and activating gifts and abilities rather than trying to fill needs. As we seek to follow the Way of Christ, we identify and mobilize the assets of individuals, especially those who live on the margins of life. We invite you to join us in this journey.

Mission Highlight

Marietta FUMC gathers to prepare and share a "home-cooked" meal for our community every Friday at MUST. We serve approximately 60 folks every week. This is an opportunity to share in God's love for our community and a great way to grow in our discipleship and to connect with one another.

Other Ways to Serve with MFUMC’s Global Mission Ministry:

Mission Team Prayer Partners

Every MFUMC mission team member has a prayer partner to offer support, encouragement, and daily prayer for the trip and the mission. As a prayer partner, you would:

  • Pray for the mission team member each day

  • Write 3 cards of encouragement that the mission team member will be given on the trip

  • Come forward with the mission team member and lay hands on them during the commissioning prayer

Project Support

Each of our global mission teams provide opportunities to share supplies for the projects in the communities they serve. Items for donation might include vitamins, over the counter medications, tooth brushes and tooth paste, school supplies, and crafts. Please watch for future announcements in the church bulletin throughout the year and look for the collection bins.
