Marietta FUMC is excited to be the host for Family Promise of Cobb County Families. Our church has partnered with Family Promise now for several years, providing housing and meals for the families in their program.
Family Promise of Cobb, (www.fpcobb.org) supports families with children who are experiencing homelessness. Their mission is to help these families achieve stability and independent living. The partner with churches in Cobb County who on a rotational basis hosts these families for a week several times a year. Along with case management and additional resources this housing and meal program allows families time to become stable and find permanent housing.
Family Promise Week, from Sunday, February 15 - Sunday, February 22 is a wonderful opportunity to volunteer and be a part of making the lives of these families better. We need volunteers to provide meals, help with moving in and out and being a host at night. Usually, we have three families with 2 to 3 children each (15-20 people). We set up Sunday school rooms as their bedrooms and use the Lower Room area as the kitchen and dining room. We provide breakfast and dinner. The families are out during the day as the parents are required to work and Family Promise Cobb helps them secure day care for children who are not yet school age.
