
Backpack Ministry School Supply Drive
School is coming to an end, but the Backpack Ministry is just getting started. Help provide school supplies to children in our community by donating supplies, packing backpacks, or delivering backpacks. MFUMC partners with the City of Marietta School social workers to help ensure students have the necessary supplies to start the school year. A donation of $25 will supply a fully packed backpack. To donate, please visit mariettafumc.org/give, select "Backpacks" or indicate "Backpacks" on your check in the Sunday offering. We are accepting fully packed backpacks or supplies from the supply list, the week of July 21-25. Support Our Community Partners This Summer!
Join us in making a difference during the month of June by providing food donations for MUST Ministries’ Summer Lunch Program and MFUMC’s Good Samaritan Ministry.

Must Summer Lunch Program
Need a service project for the summer? Need to get the family out of the house, away from electronics for a few hours? Meet in the Discipleship building C to help pack 100 meal kits for MUST Ministries for kids in our community for 9 weeks, starting May 28 through July 23, every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. Park Work Day
Help keep our park safe and inviting for our church and community at our next Park Work Day on Saturday, June 14 at 9:30 a.m. Clean up debris, spread mulch, and prune plants with your church family. REGISTER HERE

Family Must Summer Lunch Packing Day
This sign up is open to the MFUMC Children's Department families to engage all family members to pack MUST Summer Lunch "Kids' Kits". REGISTER HERE
A "Kids' Kits" are meal in a plastic bag full of 5 days worth of SHELF STABLE/nonperishable food, consisting of an entree, snacks, a breakfast item, and a drink. We will be preparing 100 kits EVERY WEEK for 9 weeks.
Packing Location at the church, is in Discipleship Building C, in the hallway of the food pantry, set up just like Blessing in Backpack is done if you are familiar with this.
Delivery of the packed "Kids' Kits" food bags, will be to First Presbyterian Church 189 Church St. NE once the packing is complete.
This is a family-friendly event, everyone is welcome. Church Nursery staff is available for younger children, 4 years old and under, who is not ready for lunch packing yet. Please put in the comment section your child's name and age, when signing up that you will want to use the Nursery staff.

Blood Drive
MFUMC is proud to partner with the American Red Cross and be a part of all they do for our community, our country, and around the world. The Red Cross needs to collect more than 13,000 blood donations and more than 2,500 platelet donations each day. Alaska Mission Trip Planning Meeting
Find out about our mission trip to Fairbanks Alaska on Sunday, March 23 in room 104. We will travel July 18-26. We will work with our sister church, Fairbanks UMC in community service and discipleship opportunities. Projects include work with the homeless community, literacy projects, gardening, and learning about God's incredible Creation. REGISTER HERE

Restock the Church Pantry in March to support the Good Samaritan Ministry Assistance program, Blessing Food Bags that feed children at Park Street Elementary and Dunleith Elementary Marietta City Schools weekly, and MUST Summer Lunch. Your efforts and donations throughout the month can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need in the community we serve. Family Promise Week
Family Promise Week is February 16- 23. If you are looking for ways to get involved and give back to the community, please sign up for the various service opportunities. Family Promise of Cobb County is a ministry to assist working families with children with temporary shelter and meals at local churches, while they receive support to develop careers and income to obtain their own homes. We will join together on Thursday, November 14 for dinner and a silent auction to raise funds for our mission trip scholarship fund, our Good Samaritan Community Ministry, and feeding and education programs in Marietta, Chimbote, Peru, and Fairbanks Alaska.

Chalktoberfest Parking Lot Hospitality
Chalktoberfest on the square is Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 14, join the service opportunity to share our church parking lot and hospitality to visitors from 10 am to 5pm each day. Volunteers are needed to be parking lot attendants in welcoming guests, giving directions, and accepting donations for parking in the church lots. Donations will support the Youth Choir, Youth Department, Scouts, park maintenance, and community assistance. Please sign up to take a shift.

Refugee Day of Service-Marietta Church Coalition
On Saturday, October 5th Refugee Day of Service will be a Marietta Church Coalition event, including members of First Baptist and First Presbyterian church along with MFUMC. MFUMC will be loading up one bus to Clarkston, at 9:00 am, to spend the day working on service projects with partner organizations that support refugee communities in Atlanta. For those unable to attend the day of service, there is donation component. See list of needed items, please put in bins located around the church until October 5th.

The groups will complete service projects at 3 venues that serve the refugee community in Atlanta. Our partner organizations will be Welcome Co-Op, Friends of Refugees', Jolly Avenue Community Garden, and Embrace Refugee Birth Support. Here is some information about the service projects we will be completing for these organizations.
Welcome Co-Op - Jobs include sorting Welcome Kit donations, building kitchen tables and chairs, and organizing /operating the Shop of Hope. For more information about this group click here for their website. Located at 3125 Oakcliff Industrial St. Doraville, GA.
Friends of Refugees Jolly Avenue Garden - Jobs include fall planting, harvesting, weeding and campus clean up at their Clarkston Location. For more information, click here to visit their website.

For those not attending the Day of Service, there is a donation component.
Collection of Welcome Kit items; Drinking glasses, light bulbs 4-pack, small and large kitchen knives, dish detergent, scouring powder, sponges 2 pack, trash bags box of tall kitchen size, laundry detergent liquid or powder, can opener manual, notebook, pack of pens, shower curtain and rings.
Embrace Refugee Birth Support Needs; gently used non expired infant car seats, pack n plays, gently used 0-3 month clothing, disposable diapers size 1-6, lightweight strollers/frames, baby wipes, baby shampoo, diaper cream, digital thermometer, feminine pads.
Collection bins at the church till October 5.

Park Clean Up Work Day
Please join us for a work day in our church's grounds and community park. Enjoy the fellowship of working side by side with your church family on Saturday, September 21, 9:30 a.m. to noon.
We will be picking up sticks, de-weeding and removing vines from plants, moving the limbs from the big limb pile next to chips...to the dumpster, spreading chips along the pathway.
Bring suggested tools: rakes, shovels, pruners, loppers, John Deere with front bucket (which we can also use to spread chips.)

Car Wash for the Extension
Visit the Car Wash to benefit The Extension that will be held on the church campus on Saturday, June 8th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday, June 9th from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The alumni members of The Extension will be washing cars for donations in the Handicap parking lot off Whitlock Avenue and the ramp between Buildings B and C.

The Extension Meal Providers
The Extension provides addiction recovery to homeless members of our community. You can help show the way to Christ's redeeming love and grace to the folks we serve with these meals. MFUMC supports the Men's and Women's Extension with dinner once a month. Provide a dish made at home or store-bought to complete a meal in June and July. Parking Ministry- Taste of Marietta

Marietta Mentoring Celebration Dinner
MFUMC supports Marietta Mentoring for Leadership in various ways throughout the year. On Tuesday, April 16th their end-of-year Celebration Dinner will be held in the Family Life Hall.
Assistance is needed in the form of prepping and cooking for the 200 guests, decorating the room, setting the tables, and serving and cleaning up just like on a Wednesday Church Family Supper night.

Men's Community Cook Out with The Extension
All men of the church are invited to join in fellowship, service, and worship with the men of the Extension Addiction Recovery Center.

The Good Samaritan Ministry is hosting a Community Luncheon for Easter during Holy Week in the Family Life Hall on Thursday, March 28. Please bring your gloves, water bottle, and a wheelbarrow if you have one on Saturday, March 23 at 9:30 am to clean up the church grounds and park for Easter. Family Promise Week
Company is Coming! MFUMC will host Family Promise of Cobb County for our 1st week in 2024 during the week of February 11 to February 18.
Three families will receive temporary shelter at our church for the week, while receiving the support needed to develop careers and income to obtain their own homes. They will be with us each day from about 6:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
We encourage you to consider becoming a part of our volunteer team during this meaningful week. Discuss in your Sunday School class, small group or among your church friends and visit our Sign-Up Genius to learn of the specific volunteer opportunities available.

Peru Mission Trip
Learn about how you can share God’s love with the People of Peru during our Nov. 4-11, 2023 Mission Trip. Projects include a medical clinic, home construction, community service and relationship-making. All levels of experience and ability are welcome. On Sunday, September 17, MFUMC will participate in a Marietta Church Coalition for an interdenominational Day of Service to complete serveral projects for Friends of Refugees Jolly Avenue Garden and the Welcome Co-Op. All ages are welcome. Travel to Clarkston, attend 10:30 am Worship service at Shalom International Ministry, following a lunch together, continue on to service project destinations. REGISTER HERE.
