SAM Trip to Funk Heritage Center at Reinhardt University
The Senior Adult Ministry has a trip planned to visit the Funk Heritage Center on the campus of Reinhardt University to explore the culture and stories of Native Americans and early settlers on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025. The cost of the tour is $8.50 which starts at 11:00 am, lunch on your own at the University's student cafeteria. Meet the church buses in the Polk Street parking lot at 9:45 am.

Senior Adult Ministry Christmas Luncheon
Join us for a festive Senior Adult Ministry Christmas Luncheon at the home of Jane Cooley on Wednesday, December 18 at 12:00 noon. Enjoy a delicious Italian lunch, fellowship, and holiday cheer in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Show off your baking skills by providing a dessert for the luncheon!

SAM Fall Trip to Pigeon Forge
The Senior Adult Ministry is going to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee from Wednesday, December 4 through Friday, December 6. Choice of single or double occupancy in the Music Road Resort. Reserve your spot with a $200 deposit.
Early Bird discount of $50 until June 15th. Final Payment due by September 15th, 2024. No refunds after November 4th, if registration is canceled.

Senior Adult Ministry Community Friendsgiving
This month we are doing something different, lunch will be held on Thursday, (not Wednesday) on November 21st from 12 noon to 1 pm in the Family Life Hall. Share with community members, attending the Good Samaritan Ministry, a Thanksgiving meal.
The lunch will be a potluck, volunteers are needed to bring a dish, help set up, and serve. Click HERE to sign up to bring a dish to share.

SAM Trip to LaGrange College Theater-Wizard of Oz
The Senior Adults will travel to LaGrange College to watch The Wizard of Oz production on Friday, October 25. This day trip will start at 12:30 pm departing the church parking lot, stop for lunch, then attend the 4:00 pm show. Cost is $10 for the show ticket, lunch on your own. REGISTER HERE

SAM trip to Titanic Experience
On Monday, September 23 the Senior Adults are taking a day trip to the Titanic Experience in Doraville Georgia, which is known for its detailed exhibits and immersive atmosphere, offering a glimpse into the history and grandeur of the Titanic. Senior Adult Ministry Trip to Tour Braves Stadium
The MFUMC Senior Adults are going to tour Truist Park stadium, home of the Atlanta Braves. Hop a ride on a church bus on Tuesday, August 20th at 9 am.
The tour is at 10 am, and includes the following tour stops;’ Xfinity Rooftop, Press Box, Hank Aaron Terrace, Xfinity Club, Monument Garden, Delta SKY360* Club, Truist Club, Dugout, Coors Light Below the Chop, Terrapin Taproom, Hope & Will’s Sandlot. The Braves Clubhouse is not included as a tour stop.
The tour will take an hour and a half, consisting of a mile of walking (4,000 steps), rain or shine. The tour cost is $25, the lunch location will be determined, and the cost will be on your own.
For your comfort we recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes, you should be in good health and able to climb stairs, including the stairs to enter the church bus.

Senior Adult Ministry Trip to Tour BAPS
Join your fellow SAM adventurers on the second leg of our FUMC World Religions Tour! On Tuesday, April 23 we will visit BAPS to observe a service then a guided tour of the property. Lunch location to be determined. Meet in the church Polk Street parking lot at 9:00 am. Depart at 9:15 am to enjoy a 45 minute ride to and from, estimated return around 2:00 pm or 2:30 pm. BAPS stands for Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. It is a socio-spiritual Hindu organization rooted in the Vedas.
Review the following information for guidelines to prepare for your visit:
This is a guided tour. There is no charge for group visit. However, each member of your group can help us serve the community by bringing a vegetarian canned food item (no meat, poultry, or fish) during their visit. The items will be donated to the Care Closet - a confidential school-based food pantry. Thank you.
· The guided tour is about an hour long and includes a minimum of 30 minutes of walking/standing. Handicap access is available via a ramp and elevator. The structure is made of stone, so we request everyone to be extra careful and use handrails, when possible, to prevent injuries.
· All visitors must remove their shoes in the shoes drop off area before entering the Mandir. It is recommended that everyone wears socks as the marble inside the Mandir gets cold during the winter.
· Please take advantage of the onsite Shayona Cafe and Gift/Book Shop before or after your tour. If you are planning to eat in the Cafe please let us know ahead of time if possible.
· Shorts, short-skirts, and sleeveless tops are not allowed.
· Photography and videography are not allowed from the podium level and inside the Mandir.

Senior Adult Ministry Fall Retreat to Asheville North Carolina
SAM will travel to Asheville, North Carolina for a two-night stay, November 29 through December 1st.
We will tour the Biltmore House Holiday Decor, visit the Black Rock Theatre for a Holiday Show, have dinner at the Stable Cafe, and offer excursions to the Grove Park inn, the Billy Graham Center and, of course, shopping. Travel by Charter Coach. REGISTER HERE!

Have lunch with MFUMC member Richard Taylor and learn the story behind his annual Lights of Joy Christmas display which at last count totaled 1.2 million lights on display at his home, Wednesday, November 15 at noon in the Family Life Hall.
Hear the history of how the display got started, how it takes over 30 hours to connect everything, that it's dedicated to the life of his mother Marjorie "Joy" Hixon Taylor, the light display is synchronized to music, the Tunnel of Joy added in 2020 has over 100,00 lights to make for a great place for photos, plus so much more!
