Christmas Poinsettias
Our Open Door Sunday School Class has supported Murphy-Harpst by placing Poinsettias in the church sanctuary as part of our Advent reflection as we look forward to the coming celebration of our Savior's birth at Christmas.
Music in Ministry Sunday
Join us in both worship services on Sunday, August 25 for Music in Ministry Sunday. The Adult Choir, Youth Choir, Children's Choirs (11:15 a.m. worship only), Handbell Choir, Instrumentalists, and their leaders, will provide wonderful music.

Grow the Legacy | October Sermon Series
The "Grow the Legacy" sermon series centers around cultivating a culture of faithful stewardship and investing in God's kingdom. To thrive as people of faith and as a church. 1 Peter shares wisdom on what it means to thrive. The early Christians were really no different than we are. We struggle, we wonder about God, we want a deep faith, we desire strong and long-lasting friendships. But life gets busy, and it gets hard. God doesn't just want us to walk around with no joy, God wants us to thrive. We are all pilgrims on this journey of faith. We are better and stronger together and when we are together, we thrive. Come and join us as we discover what it means not just to survive but to thrive.
Christmas Day
Join us for one family worship service on Sunday, December 25, at 10:00 a.m. There will be no Sunday School or nursery this day.
Christmas Eve
Please join us on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24. Our Children's Service at 3:00 p.m. will be led by our children, who will retell the Christmas story as they adorn costumes of shepherds, wise men, angels, and the Holy Family.
We will also offer Candlelight Communion Services at 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., & 11:00 p.m. Join us as we welcome the Christ child once again into our hearts and lives.
Childcare is available at the 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 p.m. services for children 3 and under. Nursery is available for infants through 3 years old at the 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. services. No nursery at the 11:00 p.m. service.
The Longest Night
Join us at 6:30 p.m. on December 21 for our Longest Night service. It will be a time to break away from the sometimes forced joyfulness of the season, make space for any pain or grief you may be experiencing, and pray for hope and healing.
Lessons & Carols
Join us at the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. worship services for the story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus as told in nine short Bible readings, interspersed with the singing of carols, hymns and choir anthems.

Lifting Up Our Pastor in Prayer
We invite you to join us as we begin a church-wide, focused prayer initiative called "Lifting My Pastor Through Prayer." Starting October 30, bookmarks with seven daily prayers and scripture readings focused on lifting Dr. Rev. Julie Boone through community prayer will be available at the church for everyone to take home with them and participate. Together, in covenant with God and your fellow Christians at Marietta FUMC, we will pray these prayers daily through the end of 2022. Be sure to grab a bookmark, or you can also find the prayers here on the church website, as well as on Instagram and Facebook.
Commitment Sunday
Save the date! There will be one worship service at 10:00am on October 23 for Commitment Sunday in the Sanctuary. The Stewardship Committee is hosting a Barbeque and Bluegrass Luncheon following the one worship service in the Family Life Hall. Join us for this special Sunday!
Altar Guild Luncheon
The Altar Guild is a group of volunteers who help enable excellent worship in our Sanctuary and church. They make sure that candles are lit, communion prepared, pews readied, flowers scheduled to beautify the sanctuary and bring cheer to the sick, training of acolytes, serving families at funerals and weddings, and decorating for Christmas. They are the behind the scenes volunteers of our church! If you are interested in being a part of our Altar Guild, you are invited to attend their kick-off luncheon on Monday, September 19 at 12:00 p.m. in the Family Life Hall.

Interested in being a part of Acolyte Team for our Sunday worship service? Acolytes, Bible Bearers and Crucifers help lead in worship each Sunday. We will have Acolyte training on Sunday, August 28 at 10:10 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Children and Youth, starting 3rd grade and up can participate on our Acolyte Team. We’re celebrating this new season with yummy food, games, and a chance for you to explore all the opportunities for all ages to grow in faith, grow in community, and engage in ministry with us this fall.

MFUMC Strategic Planning Survey
The MFUMC Church Council established a Strategic Planning Team (“SPT”) in August of 2021 consisting of 22 clergy and lay members representing Sunday School classes, missions, programs, staff, and volunteers to develop a five-year strategic plan to further MFUMC’s:
Vision To be a welcoming church growing in Christian faith and serving in love to fulfill our Mission of Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The team has completed its first round of research, gathering data from local and national churches that are growing and thriving. SPT has assessed the current and anticipated needs of our community, as well as the ministries offered at MFUMC. At this stage in the process, SPT is seeking input from the congregation through their participation in the survey below regarding how to become the most effective church that we can be, working to live out our vision and fulfill our mission. Individual responses will be anonymous and confidential.
Please take a few moments to complete and return the survey below by clicking “Submit” at the end of this survey. If a paper survey is preferred, one can be picked up at the reception desk. Please fill it out in ink and put it in the box marked “Surveys” located at both the reception desk and in the Gathering Area outside of the Sanctuary. The input of each church member in your family is greatly valued! We encourage each family member to fill out their own survey. If there are multiple answers per question, you may make more than one response. Please be in prayer for the Strategic Planning Team and that God’s preferred future for MFUMC be lived out.

Welcome Rev. Blair Tolbert
Join us in welcoming Rev. Blair Tolbert, our newest associate minister! Rev. Blair will have her first service at MFUMC on Sunday, July 10. We'll have a reception during the Sunday School hour (10:10 a.m.) in the Family Life Hall, where everyone will have a chance to meet and welcome Rev. Blair to the MFUMC family.
Father's Day Photo Booth
Let’s celebrate our dads on June 19, Father’s Day! Stop by our photo booth in the Gathering Area outside the Sanctuary for some fun photos with dad after each worship service, and of course, there will be donuts for special men in our lives!
Worship Unplugged
Join us for a time of casual worship and fellowship this Memorial Day Weekend! Enjoy a come-as-you-are worship service at both the 9:00 a.m. and the 11:15 a.m. services.
Senior Sunday
We are excited to recognize and celebrate our youth who are graduating from high school on Sunday, May 15, 2022.
Our graduating seniors will be recognized and will be able to assist in leading at the 9:00am or 11:15am services. Additionally, we will have a lite breakfast in the Lower Room during the Sunday school hour (10:10am - 11:00am).
Their photo will be placed in our Senior Class 2022 booklet. Email your senior picture directly to Administrative Assistant, Jada Cowans (jadacowans@mariettafumc.org) no later than May 1, 2022. Please send the original picture file (not a picture of a picture).
For those assisting in leading at the 9:00am or 11:15am services, we will have a rehearsal at 8:00pm on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in the Sanctuary.

Easter Sunday Morning Hospitality
Be a part of our Easter Sunday Morning Hospitality Team! Opportunities to prepare and serve Easter breakfast, greet, make coffee, help with photos at the Flowering Cross and drive golf carts! Training will be provided and there are multiple 30-40 minute shifts available to work with your Easter Sunday schedule. Passion: God is still with Us
This Lent, we will walk with Jesus through his Passion (suffering). Along the way, Jesus passed through many places; a home, a garden, a palace, to name a few. God is present in all the places of our life just as God was with Christ as he made his way to the cross. There is no place where God is not present. Jesus joins us in the places of our life when we need him most, in our doubt, fear, and suffering. He is still with us. These are words of hope, especially as we embark on this pilgrimage of Lent.
Confirmation Sunday Service
Confirmation Sunday (March 6, 2022) will take place for your student at either the 9:00am or 11:15am service (whichever to choose). However, we do need to know which service you will attend ahead of time. At this service, your students will take their vows, be baptized (if they have not already been), and formally join the church. Please have your confirmands dress in their Sunday best.
Ash Wednesday Services
Join us as we begin the season of Lent. We will offer two worship services with the imposition of ashes at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Both services will be in the sanctuary.
Acolyte Training
On Sunday, January 30, join us for an Acolyte Training session at 10:15 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Our Acolyte Ministry is open to 3rd-5th grade students who are interested in serving as worship leaders in Sunday morning worship.
